Let’s take a look at the below example in detail.

Example 1: Affiliates earn a 10% commission per sale, while the customer gets a 10% discount when they buy any products.

In this scenario, when a customer makes a purchase using an affiliate's link or a coupon code, the affiliate earns a 10% commission, and the customer receives a 10% discount. This approach motivates both the affiliates and their customers.

To set up this program and make it live or to test it, you need to follow a few steps:

• Step 1: Creating a Program

• Step 2: Create a Rule

• Step 3: Assigning an Affiliate to the program

Step 1: Creating a Program

• Go to WordPress backend -> WPRelay -> Manage -> Programs

• Click on the "Create Program" button.

• Program title and description - Give a title and description for the Program. This title will be helpful while selecting the program in the "Affiliates" tab.

• You also have the option to specify the start and end date to set validity for the campaigns.

Details of configurations are:

• Affiliate Commission type - Choose the commission type as "Rule-Based"

• Enable recurring options - Enable this checkbox and select "Lifetime" to provide commission for recurring orders.

• A rule tab will become active after a program has been created.

Step 2: Create a Rule

Select the RULE option to set up the rule configuration.

Details of configurations are:

Rule title: Give a title for the Rule. ‘10% commission for Affiliates’.

Product/ Category: Enter the option ‘All Products’, So that all the products in the store will be added to the affiliate’s link or coupon code.

Commission Type: Select the Discount as Percentage and enter the value as 10%. Also, there is an option to set a fixed discount.

Conditions: Select which affiliate this rule should be applied to. This could apply to all affiliates or just a subset of them.

General (Optional): Provide a description of the rule and set a date and time validity.

Ensure that you save the rule.

Step 3: Assigning an Affiliate to the program

• Go to WordPress backend -> WPRelay -> Affiliates

• Click on the "Create Affiliate" button.

Once the Program is assigned to the affiliates, a link is generated using which the customers make a purchase.

The cart page displays a 10% discount for the customer when a purchase is made using the affiliate’s link:

After a customer completes an order through the affiliate’s link, the affiliate will receive a 10% commission calculated from the product the customer purchased using the affiliate link.

Admins or store owners, if you adjust customer discounts or modify affiliate programs from the "Affiliate" tab, be aware that updates to Affiliate Coupons (in Woocommerce -> Marketing -> Coupons) may take up to a minute due to changes being applied through a scheduled cron job.
