Affiliates get a $20 commission and customers get a 50% offer when they purchase with multiple rules

Discover how to provide Affiliates with a $20 commission and customers get a50% discount when they purchase specific products or products from those categories that aren't included in the rule.

Example scenario:

• Affiliates earn $20 as commission per sale, while the customer gets a 50% discount when they purchase specific products or products from those categories that aren't included in the rule.

Let’s take a look at the below example in detail.

Example 4: Affiliates earn $20 as commission per sale, while the customer gets a 50% discount when they purchase specific products or products from those categories that aren't included in the rule.

In this setup, if a purchase is made through an affiliate's link or with a coupon code for the products of a category that isn’t mentioned as an exception in the rule, Then the Affiliate is rewarded with a $20 commission for the sale if the purchase matches any one of the rules in the program, while the customer also receives a 50% discount for the same.

If the customer’s purchase matches both the rules then the affiliate will earn a commission of $40.

To set up this program and make it live or to test it, you need to follow three steps:

• Step 1: Create a Program

• Step 2: Create Rules

• Step 3: Assigning an Affiliate to the program

Step 1: Creating a Program

• Go to WordPress backend -> WPRelay -> Manage -> Programs

• Click on the "Create Program" button.

Program Configuration

Program title: Give a title for the Program. ‘$20 for affiliates and 50% off for customers - Specific products & all categories except these’.

Validity: Set up the start date as well as the expiration dates.

Affiliate Commission: Choose “Rule-Based” as the type of commission.

Customer Discount: Enter the type of Discount that has to be offered to the customers. That is ‘Percentage’ and enter the Percentage value 50%.

Step 2: Create a Rule

The Rule tab will be enabled once the Affiliate commission in the program is checked as “Rule-Based”.

Rule 1 - Specific Products

Rule Configuration

Rule title: Give a title for the Rule. ‘$20 commission for Affiliates’.

Product/ Category: Enter the option ‘specific Products’ and enter those specific products in the Tab.

Commission Type: Select the Discount as ‘Fixed’ and enter the value as $20.

Conditions: Select which affiliate this rule should be applied to. This could apply to all affiliates or just a subset of them.

General: Upload the product description and set the validity.

Rule 2 - All categories except these

Rule Configuration

Rule title: Give a title for the Rule. ‘$20 commission for Affiliates’.

Product/ Category: Enter the option ‘All Categories except these’ and enter the Categories that should be excluded in the Tab.

Commission Type: Select the Discount as ‘Fixed’ and enter the value as $20.

Conditions: Select which affiliate this rule should be applied to. This could apply to all affiliates or just a subset of them.

General: Upload the product description and set the validity.

Step 3: Assigning an Affiliate to the program

• Go to WordPress backend -> WPRelay -> Affiliates

• Click on the "Create Affiliate" button.

The cart page displays a 50% discount for the customer when a purchase is made using the affiliate’s link:

After the customer has successfully completed the order through the affiliate’s link, the customer has received a 50% discount on the product.

After a successful payment process, The affiliate will receive the $40 commission calculated from the amount of that specific product of a certain category that the customer has ordered.

The Affiliate will receive $40 because both the rules have matched with the customer’s purchase order, that is the customer has purchased a product that has been specified for the discount and that product has matched with the category excluded from the list for the discount.

Admins or store owners, if you adjust customer discounts or modify affiliate programs from the "Affiliate" tab, be aware that updates to Affiliate Coupons (in Woocommerce -> Marketing -> Coupons) may take up to a minute due to changes being applied through a scheduled cron job.
